Morning of the Earth Fiji Triple Stringer 6'8 review
Updated 2026-09-20

The Morning of the Earth Fiji Triple Stringer is a 6'8 custom twin fin built for waves with some real quality behind them. It is the kind of board bought to keep forever, not to flip.
What it is and why I bought it
Morning of the Earth Surfboards, now trading as Simon Jones, built this one as a triple stringer with a custom red finish, running channels into a fairly pulled in tail. This is not the only Fiji owned over the years; an earlier, smaller one came before it, and this 6'8 size has turned out to be the better everyday fit, stepping up well when the swell picks up.
How it surfed
It is thick through the nose and the tail, which suits a bigger rider, and fairly flat underneath, with a gradual nose entry and only a little tail rocker. That flat entry runs into a very mild, subtle single concave just enough to add glide, before the bottom builds into vee and, further back, a set of channels with a more aggressive vee running out through the tail. Despite the triple stringer, it feels only a little heavier than a regular PU board in the water, and it never slides out from underneath. Large upright fins have suited it well, though any upright fin setup works fine on this one. It has held up to plenty of use, with some compression showing near the fins and a small fin box repair after grounding out on a rock, but nothing that has slowed it down.
Obviously, a board like this is built for good waves rather than the smallest days. It carries real speed once a wave has some size to it.
Who it suits and who it does not
A quality wave twin fin like this suits someone who already has a small wave board covered elsewhere in the rack and wants a dedicated twin for when conditions turn on. It is not the pick for soft, small surf, since this board wants a genuine wave to show what it can do.
What happened to it
It is still in the rack, and if only one rounded twin pin could be kept, this would be the one.
Questions people ask
What fins work on the Fiji Triple Stringer?
Large upright fins have been the pairing used, though the fin position suits any upright setup rather than needing anything more specialized.
What conditions suit the Fiji best?
It is built for genuine wave quality rather than the smallest, softest days, and it carries real speed once conditions deliver that.
How has the triple stringer construction held up?
It has taken plenty of use, including a small fin box repair after contact with a rock, and it still feels only a little heavier than a regular PU board.
This one is still in the rack; more on where it fits sits on the quiver hub. For the larger board from the same shaper in the record, see the Morning of the Earth Massive. For similar quality-wave twins, see the Surman Dark Void 7'2.
